Saturday: WIM3 VIII composite with Jesus

Won the heat easily, won the final with a small amount of effort. Beat City and equalled the course record. Nice.

Saturday: WIM3 IV+

Had a bit of a slow start but our fast cruising speed secured us a place in the final where we came third behind two great Leeds crews.

Sunday: WIM3 IV+

Slight change of tactic - with double clams we had a faster start, but the 500m race meant we didn't have enough time at cruising speed to row through again. We came 2nd in the final against the same Leeds crew that beat us the previous day.

Saturday: IM3 2- Heat 1

Not having been in the pair for over 2 months we were anxious to see whether we could still row it smoothly. We took the lead over the first 100m, but then had to yield to a strong oppostion over the last 500m. The race was rough but we were still able to defend our second place and thereby qualified for the semi-final.

Saturday: IM3 2- Semi-Final - 4th

Starting as the underdogs in the semi-final with the slowest qualifying time, the race was pretty much a repeat of the first race. After a good start, it was hard to keep up with the opposition and we came 4th place with 2 seconds to 3rd. In a nutshell, there is much more potential for coming races if we train on a more regular basis.

Sunday: IM3 IV+ Quarter Final - 2nd out of 3

Coming into a regatta with no water training and four strokesiders was always going to prove to be a challenge. The plan was just to keep it steady, not to go ballistic on the rate, and see where we were at. It wasn't too shabby in this race, being narrowly edged at the finish by a foot for the victory, but coming an easy second to make it into the Semi Final.

Sunday: IM3 IV+ Semi Final - 4th out of 4

Our lack of training certainly showed here, as the other crews were much more polished in terms of their rhythm and technique. However, this race was not helped by a forgetful start marshal who forgot to announce the 4th crew that was racing, and in correcting himself the blustery conditions veered us into a diagonal start position. This was not cool. However, the race was certainly close, with a big push from us at the end getting us close to making amends of our poor start. With only 1 second separating 1st and 4th, this was certainly still a respectable result in midst of a strong field.

Sunday: Mx Novice 2x - 2nd out of 4

Having done a vast amount of training (definitely enough to fulfil the requirements for a bumps race on the Cam), we came into this race not only to demonstrate our superiority over the opposition, but to also prove that we were better than Stef and David. After a rocky start, we got into our rhythm and soon found ourselves in an easy second place. At the halfway stage, with some helpful bank calls from Rob (who apparently still wanted to cox even if he wasn't physically in the boat), we pushed on to catch up to the pair in first from Peterborough. However, apparently they actually knew how to scull, and held on.
