Ladies' 1st VIII

6th out of 12 in the 1st Mays division

We had two subs from this years Blondie crew to add to our lineup. We had a fairly good row in both stages and the pushes were stronger and more committed. A good result, especially considering our place in the bumps table.

Men's 1st VIII

Joint 7th with Emmanuel and Fitzwilliam

In a nailbightingly close finish, the THBC 1st men put their poor performance from last weekend behind them and set off with a solid rhythm into the first piece. First and Third scratched, so we were racing as head boat in the third division. Coming back we had a weak start with a poor rhythm through First Post corner and into the gut, but on seeing Fitz come up on us we re-set the ratio and power as we came onto the reach, taking the rating up two and powering to the finish in what felt like some of our best rowing this term.

The final results showed us as 4th boat overall in the first piece and a dissapointing 12th in the second, going against the trend of most other boats going faster on the second piece (with the wind). Overall a good result though, and a sign that if we can achieve our best rowing consistently, then we should be one of the faster boats on the river...
