Directions to the Boat House

Trinity Hall Boat House

Trinity Hall is lucky enough to own its own boat house, situated on the river Cam, downstream of Jesus lock.

We store our boats here, have all of our outings here and do most of our land training here too. There are changing rooms for men and women, showers and a weights room. We also have lots of ergos and a couple of tubs for beginners.

To help you find the boat house when you're starting off, we've put together some directions. These are written below, along with videos that we've recorded of us cycling the route. There's also a google map at the bottom of the page (load it in a new window here), and all of this is wrapped into a pdf file to download and print if you'd like.

From Central Site College to the Boat House

Route takes approximately 10 minutes by bike.

From the Porter's Lodge, turn left and follow Trinity Lane round to the right to the T junction near "The Little Gift Shop on the Corner". Turn left here (noting that you are now going against a one-way street if cycling) onto Trinity Street and follow to the bollards. Cross over a road here and go down a short one-way street between the Round Church and a Toni & Guy hair salon. At the end of this road turn left at a multi-storey car park into Park Street; follow through a set of bollards and then round to the right. This quiet road turns into a path that goes across Jesus Green to a set of traffic lights across Victoria Avenue. Cross these traffic lights and continue straight on to the bridge across the river, next to the Fort St. George pub.

If walking, you can take the stairs at the right as you come off the bridge and then walk along the river without going under the bridge; if cycling, carry straight on after the bridge and turn right into Aylestone Road, right again into Kimberley Road to the bouthouses, then turn left at the river. Trinity Hall Boat House is the one with the big black steps at the front!

From Wychfield to the Boat House

Route takes approximately 15 minutes by bike.

Leave the site via the Huntingdon Road exit and turn right as if to come into town. At the traffic lights by the car wash (the old garage) turn left, but take the right hand fork here onto Victoria Road. Follow this downhill to the one way system around Staples. Here you want to take the middle lane (avoiding Milton Road to the left), which takes you onto Chesterton Road.

After the one-way system, take the first road on the right (Hamilton Road, next to the Cambridge Blue bike shop) follow it around to the left, then turn right into Pretoria Road. At the end turn left into Aylestone Road, right again into Kimberley Road to the boathouses, then turn left at the river. Trinity Hall Boat House is the one with the big black steps at the front!
